About this Exam
The Microsoft Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) validates your ability to design, build, test, and maintain cloud applications and services on Azure. This certification is the Azure equivalent of the AWS Developer Associate and focuses on using Azure SDKs, data storage options, authentication and authorization, and monitoring solutions. You will be tested on implementing Azure Functions for serverless computing, building web APIs with App Service, managing containers with Azure Container Registry and Azure Kubernetes Service, integrating caching with Azure Redis Cache, and implementing message-based solutions using Service Bus and Event Grid. The exam also covers Azure Cosmos DB, Blob Storage, and Azure SQL for data persistence, as well as authentication using Microsoft Identity Platform and Microsoft Entra ID. Candidates should have 1-2 years of development experience and proficiency in at least one Azure-supported programming language such as C#, Python, JavaScript, or Java.
