CNCF Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate
CNCF KCNA Practice Exam
Valid 2026463+ Questions with detailed explanations. Realistic timed simulation.
About this Exam
The Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) is the CNCF's entry-level credential and the one exam in the Kubernetes family that is genuinely multiple choice β CKA, CKAD and CKS are performance-based and run against a live cluster, so a question bank cannot prepare you for those. KCNA is different: it tests conceptual understanding across four domains β Kubernetes Fundamentals (44%), Container Orchestration (28%), Cloud Native Application Delivery (16%) and Cloud Native Architecture (12%). You are expected to know what each control-plane component does, how pods, services and controllers relate, how the scheduler places workloads, and where the major CNCF projects fit, rather than to type kubectl commands. Coverage spans the Kubernetes API and core objects, containers and runtimes, networking and service discovery, storage and persistence, RBAC and security primitives, observability with metrics, logs and tracing, GitOps and CI/CD delivery patterns, autoscaling, serverless, and the cloud native ecosystem, its governance and its community. This practice bank contains 463 questions with a written explanation on every item.

Who Should Take This Exam
- Engineers starting on Kubernetes who want a credential before attempting CKA
- Developers, SREs and platform engineers joining a team that already runs Kubernetes
- Product managers, architects and pre-sales staff who need credible cloud native vocabulary
- Anyone holding a cloud certification who wants a vendor-neutral container credential
Recommended Prerequisites
- No formal prerequisites required
- The CNCF recommends basic familiarity with containers and the command line
- Helpful: exposure to a Kubernetes cluster, even a local one such as kind or minikube
- No hands-on cluster skills are tested β those belong to CKA, CKAD and CKS
Exam Tips
Kubernetes Fundamentals alone is 44% of the exam β master the control plane, core objects and the scheduler before anything else
Know which component does what: API server, etcd, scheduler, controller manager, kubelet, kube-proxy and the container runtime are a reliable source of marks
Understand how Services, Ingress and the cluster network model fit together, including why every pod gets one IP shared by its containers
Be able to place the major CNCF projects β Prometheus, Envoy, Helm, Argo, Flux, etcd, containerd β and say what problem each solves
Observability questions test the distinction between metrics, logs and traces, and why observability is not the same thing as monitoring
90 minutes for 60 multiple-choice questions is generous; read each stem fully rather than pattern-matching on keywords
